Helping Hands for Puerto Rico

Helping Hands for Puerto Rico is a non-profit organization that focuses on disaster relief , the development of educational programs in disaster preparedness, agriculture, the arts and entrepreneurship. HH4PR was formed in 2017 in New York in response to Hurricane Maria’s devastation of Puerto Rico.

The challenge with HH4PR was that they were a relatively new and small organization with few funds, working with a mostly volunteer staff. They originally approached me for help updating their website. Due to budget limitations they did not require major changes to their branding. After understanding their needs and limitations I decided to clean up the logo and palette but kept the basic design and concept so the transition would be seamless.

The palette was updated with more complementary hues. The logo was originally designed to resemble a military challenge coin that highlighted and honored the founder's military service. For this reason, olive green was added to the palette which also allowed for the branding to be distinct from other organizations in the area that used a similar red, white and blue palette.

A black and white version of the logo was also created allowing for a more simple version when needed. This also saved on printing costs on collateral such as t-shirts.

A pitch deck, business cards, social media templates and carousels were created to allow for further marketing and fundraising opportunities.
